- John Palmer as Merlin, Simon Wonnacott as Sir Lancelot du Lac, Paul Wonnacott as Master Bores, Val Meek as Lady Vivien, Sue Burgess as Queen Guinevere, Stella Hewett as Annie, Guy Pannell as King Arthur and Stella Gillingham as the Nurse in the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- ‘… my wife beside me and my best friend as well …’ , King Arthur wants nothing more in the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- As for the Queen, well it can’t be denied that she’s very fond of the gallant knight; nor can it be said that she’s entirely unmoved by his many manly charms in the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- …but it doesn’t mean a thing because after all there’s only one man for Guinevere, just as there’s only one woman for Arthur, as old Master Bores can plainly see – and so can young Annie and she doesn’t half wish the King would look at her like that, in the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- The persistent Lady Vivian tries a bit of pleading much to the annoyance of Merlin and the Queen but the vamp’s efforts are all in vain for Lancelot merely laughs at her in the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- Meanwhile Merlin has hatched a plot to catch Lancelot in the Queen’s bedchamber, but the plot backfires and he’s caught himself and threatened with his life by the knight. The Nurse, however is content just to taunt him, having already given the wily wizard a thorough whacking for his wickeed deed. And to think he did it all for the Lady Vivian! Ah well, there’s no fool like an old fool. From the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- But Merlin does – he wants Lady Vivian. In fact he’s besotted by the wanton. It’s hopeless though because Lady Vivian only has eyes for Sir Lancelot, which is also hopeless because Sir Lancelot has lost his heart to the Queen. From the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
- But it all turns out for the best in the end, and after Master Bores has saved the round Table – and got himself turned into a knight – everybody is happy again, including the producers, Cathie Pannell and John Wain. Well, it was a comedy, wasn’t it? From the SBADS 1992 production of ‘A Spell of Virtue’
